This is My Sister, Diana!
Hello my lovelies! I have been meaning to introduce you for a long time now, but this is my sister, Diana. She's a hardcore Vegan like the rest of the beautiful vegan crew, and is one of my favourite people on the planet.
Diana is a shining star who can achieve anything she sets her mind to. She's talented in too many ways to count: A Model, Dancer, Entertainer, Clothing Designer, Event Planner, Animal/Human Rights Activist, Graphic Designer, Screen Printer, Entrepreneur and so much more!
Diana and I end up laughing our heads off when we get together, because we're basically little goofballs, and I always feel I can be myself around her.
So here's to you Diana! My Amazing little sister. Thanks for being YOU, and for being strong enough to drop anyone who doesn't support your goals. You rock.
This is John Lewis: The Badass Vegan!
John Lewis is an inspiration to so many people who want to be fit and ripped without being involved with the killing and mistreatment of animals for food production. He eats mostly RAW food and has boundless energy!
We're so glad you're a part of our team John! I want to do a whole lot more outreach and education with you and the rest of the crew here at Beautiful-Vegan in the coming months.
John started a not-for-profit organization called Nobesity, where he educates and trains people to gain fitness and lose pounds with a plant-based lifestyle.
Check out John's website at BadAssVegan!!
And stay tuned for more!

I might go RAW for Good!
Hello my lovelies! I hope you are in good spirits and feeling amazing! Here is a video just updating you on how things are going with the raw for 30 days thing that has evolved into raw for 60 days, and NOW... I think I will stick with it for good! I may have something here and there that's cooked if I feel like it, but I'm feeling so incredible that I don't ever want to go back!
Why would I? The food is delicious, my body is toning without much effort, I can eat as much as I want, my skin is gorgeous, my thoughts are clear and I am feeling more connected to everyone around me.
Keep going guys! Your body and soul and taste buds will thank you!
XOXO

RAW For 30 Days (plus) Update!
Hello my lovelies! Here's a little video Erin and I recorded to quickly update you on how the RAW for 30 days is going (now RAW for 60 days for me! I'm working on Erin)...
For me it's been quite easy so far, this is the fourth week and no glitches in the form of cravings etc. I'm really enjoying all the dishes I've been making, and I look forward to what I can come up with.
I haven't been drinking fresh juices so much, like Erin, because I hate having to clean out my juicer! Will someone please invent a juicer that's as easy to clean as a blender... Seriously. I'll pay you.
Anyway, I'm committing to sticking with 100% raw for another month and we'll see what Erin decides... Come-on girl! (no pressure).
Alright, that's it for now- over and out.
xoxo
Lyn
Oh Yeah! I forgot to tell you that I have lost 15Lbs too :) Crazy. I'm not even trying. I can eat as much as I want and somehow I'm losing the extra weight I put on after the accident. Pretty cool. xoxo
Conscious Evolution: We Are Evolving Through Our Actions:
Conscious Evolution? What are we talking about?
It is believed that with natural selection, traits that aid survival flourish, while traits that hinder survival eventually die off. Since consciousness is something we are said to have evolved, for the very purpose of aiding us in our survival, then we can say that some of us are now consciously choosing to evolve by changing a behaviour that is damaging to us.
Diabetes, cancer, heart disease, obesity and depression are directly related to our growing consumption of over-processed, chemically doused food and animal products (read Plant Based Nutrition and Health, by Stephen Walsh, PhD.), so we can see that our standard western diet is clearly affecting our chances of survival. These diseases are skyrocketing and there is no sign of slowing down.
Because of this, and for many other reasons, a growing number of people are moving in the direction of plant-based diets. If I consciously choose to increase my chances of survival and productivity by giving myself an advantage that helps me thrive, then this is what I term ‘consciously evolving’.
If I raise my son this way I am passing this advantage down to him, (in this case, consciously, not genetically). But if, on the other hand, I am doing something over and over again that decreases my chances for maintaining good health and a thriving living environment then I am harming myself, and not consciously evolving.
The Earth is dwindling as we pollute our environment recklessly. One of the top causes of this pollution is factory farming, which is where almost all of our meat, dairy, eggs and animal by-products come from. The excrement of billions of animals, bred for us to eat, leaches into our water systems and causes more harmful greenhouse gas emissions than all industry combined (now believed by WorldWatch.org and other researchers, to be more than 51% of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions).
Our precious topsoil is depleted as forests are cleared for grazing, and more than 70% of grains in the U.S. are fed to livestock, instead of people. It’s illogical, at best. (Stats taken from Livestock and Climate Change Report, by Robert Goodland and Jeff Anhang. World Watch, Nov. Dec. 2009, www.worldwatch.org).
Animals in the wild know not to soil their nest because it’s bad for them. We humans behave more like parasites, consuming and destroying our host as we grow in numbers. Because of our careless actions, our environment has become toxic, and survival of the fittest, or survival of the most cooperative with nature, will be the result. Evolutionary impulse is a term used to describe a change in the environment that triggers a change within an organism in order to increase its chances of survival. And adaptation is a term that describes the process whereby an organism becomes better suited to its habitat. We are connected to the Earth in ways we can’t fully understand, and we have to work together to co-exist.
(Photo below taken by James Toth)
So should we continue in the direction we are headed, or take the path of sustaining ourselves on plant-based diets? No doctor who is properly educated in nutrition (and yes, there are uneducated doctors, especially in nutrition) will advise us to increase our intake of meat and cheese to become healthier; so the answer seems clear.
We don’t want to start a war between vegans and non-vegans. We simply want to open up a dialogue about the problems we are all facing, and use logic instead of fanaticism to create change. If something is truly better for us, and our environment, then we should pursue it with the same enthusiasm that brought us to this tipping point in the first place. No one likes change, but it’s unavoidable and, right now, mandatory.
"Vegetarian food leaves a deep impression on our nature. If the whole world adopts vegetarianism, it can change the destiny of humankind." -Albert Einstein.

SUPERNATURAL - The Unseen Powers Of Animals: #1!!
Supernatural: The Unseen Powers Of Animalsis an amazing series of television shows about animals and how they perceive the world in ways that seem absolutely supernatural to us! I love it. This one shows us how sharks sense the auras around electrical objects, including us! And if we are cut, they see a jet of electrical energy that is three meters from the wound. So weird, but then again maybe not, because many people, myself included, can see auras, (although I see them subtly, unlike some who see bright colours), around people and other animals, and often around plants too.
I will post a different show whenever I remember, or you can just go find it on Google videos yourself :) Watch it!

Apollo Zero (Full Movie):
This movie, Apollo Zero, will anger many people, but I think it's important to be open to all possibilities, especially when things seem so illogical, and we know that governments of the world have lied to us time and time again.
What does it have to do with Veganism? Well, it shows us that we must take care of our own health and seek out information from a wide variety of alternative sources, because we are being lied to by the very people we have been taught to trust without question.
Knowledge is everything.

Raw Vegan for 30 Days (Big Fight!)
Well it's January, and that means New Year's Resolutions. Me and Erin have committed to eating 100% raw (vegan, of course), for the entire month. We do a lot of raw food as it is, but 100% is a bit trickier as far as cravings go. I haven't had any really overwhelmingly crazy ones so far, but Erin has been coveting loafs of bread... not eating them, but wishing she was.
We have had some interesting results by doing this for just seven days... Watch and learn.
XOXO
Lyn and Erin
Harvard Declares Milk and Dairy NOT Part of a Healthy Diet!
Harvard Declares Milk and Dairy NOT Part of a Healthy Diet:
The Harvard School of Public Health sent a strong message to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and nutrition experts everywhere with the recent release of its “Healthy Eating Plate” food guide. The university was responding to the USDA’s new MyPlate guide for healthy eating, which replaced the outdated and misguided food pyramid.Harvard’s nutrition experts did not pull punches, declaring that the university’s food guide was based on sound nutrition research and more importantly, not influenced by food industry lobbyists.
The above was taken from an article on the following site:Read more: http://www.care2.com/greenliving/harvard-declares-dairy-not-part-of-healthy-diet.html#ixzz1ibE9OhXr
Here is a trailer to a new movie coming out callGot the Facts on Milk?". I will post the full Documentary as soon as I can, but go see it in theatres if it's playing near you so we can support them :) Make Vegan Milks yourself! (Just see the easy, awesome recipe below).
You can use raw, unsalted cashews or almonds for this recipe.
1/2 cup (or more if you like it creamier) raw soaked almonds or raw (unroasted) cashews
3 or 4 Tablespoons raw agave nectar (or raw sugar)
4 cups water
3/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or scrapings from a vanilla bean (optional)
Put the ingredients in a blender for a couple of minutes and pour it through a sieve if it is made with almonds- (you don't need to filter the cashew milk because the cashew are soft and turn into cream easily). Use a sieve with larger holes at first to catch the bigger pieces of nuts and then pour it through a finer one so it will be smooth.
Use this milk to replace any recipe that calls for milk, or chill it and drink as is. I love it so much! I make milk shakes by adding bananas, ice, cinnamon and clove powder to the blender.
Vegan Body Building On The Rise! New York Times Article :)
You may know John Lewis (above) from our wicked team here at beautiful-vegan (check out his profile on the left), or from his fitness training and body building career, but one thing is for sure: Vegan Body Building is on the rise! Check out VeganBodyBuilding.com for much more info.
Here is a great article I found in the New York Times today:
Vegans Muscle Their Way Into Bodybuilding: (click here for the full article).
The article left out a lot of information about the huge movement towards whole foods in fitness and body building, but the fact that it's in mainstream publications is a great sign of the times.
Time to make the switch, guys (and girls)!
