Huge chocolate corporations like Nestle use slave labour to produce their products. Support horizontal and fair trade chocolate.
Most people don't know the dark side of this industry. It's covered in shiny foil and fancy labels. If I'm craving chocolate when I go into a store that doesn't carry fair trade products, I walk away. My craving is not that great. I'll go to the next shop that does sell it.
We just found out that Cadbury, as of the Summer of 2009, is adopting fair trade chocolate! (thanks to an informed viewer called Captain.. Thanks!) Here is a link to Cadbury's blog
I'm impressed.

Indeed! Fair Trade!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,

I totally agree!!!
ReplyDeleteI supremely love Green&Black's chocolate - totally fair trade! Dagoba and Endangered Species are also in my top favorites!
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's fair to lump Cadbury in with Nestle.
ReplyDeleteCadbury has been using fairtrade chocolate for a few years and they seem to be making a relatively good effort to be an ethical producer.
I think we should be encouraging these sort of efforts from multinationals.
Nestle, on the other hand, is Satan. Keep clear!
Green & Blacks for me too! The garbage you see in the supermarket is just that. I love the fact that you're bringing all this great info to light. I will make a video on it very soon!
